China National Petroleum Corporation or CNPC is state-owned enterprise and the largest integrated oil and gas company in the country. CNPC has exploration and production projects in China and 30 other countries and is an oilfield services provider in 50 countries.

In order to meet the needs of a rapidly growing economy to access international oil and gas supply, the Chinese government has accelerated the construction of major oil and gas pipelines as part of a national stimulus package, which emphasizes infrastructure spending.
